old port & the basket

For this urban walk, I suggest a visit between the Old Port and the historic Panier district.

We will begin our tour at the Old Port, at the foot of the Canebière. Under the watchful gaze of Notre-Dame de la Garde, we will walk along the quays to reach the Town Hall and discover some amusing anecdotes about this building and those surrounding it.

A few steps up and we find ourselves in the colorful alleyways of Le Panier. Here you will discover the oldest district of Marseille, a warm and typical atmosphere with its share of unusual stories.

We will then descend towards the Cathédrale de la Major, from where we can have a magnificent panorama of the entrance to the port of Marseille and the Frioul islands.
