Julien's course

Nestled high up in Marseille's 6th arrondissement, let's explore this neighborhood with its colorful and welcoming streets, its stories and unusual anecdotes.

Formerly known for its large food market and now for the many bars and restaurants it houses, the Cours Julien district has always been a lively place at night.

This visit will give you the opportunity to (re)discover the history of Cours Julien, understand its transition from a major commercial hub to its present, punctuated by the hipsters, artists and musicians who live there.

The former Arnavaux market is now one of the largest districts in France dedicated to street art. These places, once well-known to partisans and used for ripening bananas, have changed considerably.

Today, fruits and vegetables are still sold there every Wednesday at the farmers' market, but it's also a lot of home decor and clothing (new or second-hand) that people from Marseille come to find at Cours Julien.

Did you know that?

Espace Julien, now a well-known performance venue for the people of Marseille, was one of the most decorated Masonic lodges in Europe!

The advantages of this visit:

The relaxed atmosphere of the neighborhood and the really cool designer and upcycling shops
